Privacy & Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 2026

King Projects (“King Projects”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, how our website uses cookies, and the rights you have – in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, including the changes introduced by the Privacy Amendment Act 2025, which took effect on 1 May 2026.

Information We Collect From You

We collect personal information when you contact us for a quote, enquire about a project, or otherwise get in touch through our website, phone, or email. This may include your name, phone number, email address, property address, and any details you provide about the build or renovation you have in mind.

Information We Collect From Other Sources

Sometimes we receive personal information about you from someone other than you. For example, an architect, designer, real estate agent, property manager, or another trade may pass on your contact details when referring a project to us. Where we collect information this way, we will take reasonable steps to let you know what we have collected, why, and where it came from, unless an exception under the Privacy Act applies. In most cases, this policy — together with our first contact with you — is how we do that.

How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to respond to your enquiry, prepare quotes and costings, manage and deliver your project, communicate with you throughout your build, and meet our legal and contractual obligations. We don’t use your information for any purpose beyond what you’d reasonably expect from engaging a builder.

How We Share Your Information

We may share your information with trades, suppliers, and consultants directly involved in delivering your project, and with Christchurch City Council where required for building consent and inspection purposes. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Overseas Disclosure

Some of the tools we use to run our website — including Google Analytics and Google Maps — store information on servers located outside New Zealand. Where this happens, we rely on those providers maintaining privacy and security standards comparable to those required under New Zealand law.

Marketing Communications

If you’re an existing or prospective client, we may occasionally get in touch about our services. Any electronic marketing we send complies with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to stop at any time.

Data Retention

We keep your personal information for as long as it’s needed for the purpose we collected it, or as required by law — for example, we retain project and financial records for at least seven years to meet our tax obligations.

Data Security

We take reasonable steps to keep your personal information secure, including restricting access to those who need it and using secure systems to store project and client records.

Your Rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, and to request that it be corrected if it’s wrong. Get in touch using the details below if you’d like to make a request.

Privacy Breaches

If a privacy breach occurs that’s likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll notify both you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, as required under the Privacy Act 2020.

Cookies On This Website

Our website uses a small number of cookies to help it run properly and to understand how visitors use the site.
We do not use cookies to show you advertising.

Managing Cookies

Most browsers let you control or delete cookies through their settings. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on if you’d prefer your visits not to be included in our analytics.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. You can also make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at www.privacy.org.nz.
